Top Ten Tuesdays: Ten finished series I have yet to finish.

toptentuesday2

It’s Tuesday and we all know what that means; another Top Ten Tuesday’s post; *eeee * I love completing these lists but I must admit it seems to just flag up how many more books I need to read and I’m still not getting round to them all (slumps.) Today’s list focuses on series and I’m not a big series reader. The only one I’ve read is HP which is a bit ridiculous and there are so many out there I might have to finally get round to them

1)       The Lord of the Rings by J. R. Tolkien

After writing another TTT on books I thought I would never read my Dad implored me to rethink this one. We read it together when I was a lot younger and none of it made a lot of sense (especially with my Dad falling asleep mid-chapter.) However, I think it’s time to finally give this another go, especially as I have all of the books stacked on my bookshelf back in Silvy.

2)       The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

These books have and continue to do the rounds on wordpress and I feel I’m really missing out. These books have featured a number of times on my TTT lists and I think it’s one that has to be checked off of the TBR pile.

3)       Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

I’m struggling a little with this list because many series books seem to be fantasy which is a genre I quite openly struggle with (despite it being my most requested review genre.) I didn’t realise that the film (Confessions of a Shopaholic) was originally a book, but now I know there’s a series there is definitely some binge series reading to be done.

4)       1Q84 by Haruki Murakami

This is such a cheat because I’m already halfway through this book but if I don’t finish it I think T will kill me (bless him, he has an open adoration for this author.) Although I have all the books in one it definitely still counts as a series and being over 1300 pages I want, no, need to get this finished.

5)       Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene

JHSFSJKHFSJHJ I adored Nancy Drew, but my love for her came through a number of computer games, which I thought were brilliant, rather than the books. I’ve read a couple but want to get them all read and maybe reviewed for you lovely readers.

6)       The Maze Runner by James Dashner

This is a series that I rarely see reviewed and I’ve seen negative comments about the film. I’m intrigued to read and find my own opinion of them both.

7)       The Selection by Kiera Cass

Another book series that is continually cropping up on WP; I want to know if it lives up to the hype that has been built around this book.

8)       The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

This is a book that appears to have divided the book blogging community. It seems to be a marmite series; some love, some hate. Which side will I be on? God knows but I want to find out.

9)       The Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth

You might have noticed that many of these series I have yet to start let along finish so this could be a list that takes a bit of time. My Dad is currently reading/watching these (I can’t remember which) and whenever I go home he mentions it. If it’s something he suggests I pretty much always read it.

10)   The Host by Stephenie Meyer

Another series that seems to have divided opinion; I’m intrigued as always and I haven’t read the Twilight series so this will be my first encounter with this author.

So ten series I am almost all yet to start but interested to see what I can learn and read and enjoy hopefully. What would you add or take off from my list? Let me know in le comments.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Hyped books I’ve never read/I am yet to read

toptentuesday2

Afternoon, it’s Tuesday and I feel like it’s going to be a wonderful day. It’s not often I feel so happy on a Tuesday but today, I cannot complain. Today’s post is once again a Top Ten Tuesday’s post and it’s the Top Ten Hyped books I’ve never read/I am yet to read. I’ve added the second because, as I’ve mentioned many a time, I on purposely it seems avoid *hyped* books. I think I just despise being told what to read and will instead reach for the most obscure book in its place. It’s often a mistake because I’ll end up reading said hyped book and have no one to discuss it with *wails.* For now these sit on my TBR, waiting for their time to shine.

The-Hunger-Games-Movie-Tie-In-Edition-210

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

A book that has escaped me time and time again; when these came out I remember the excitement was ferocious. I was probably reading something unknown and smirking to myself. Now, I seem to have missed the boat by a mile.

A Game of Thrones by George R R Martine

So this book was recommended to me by my Dad I think? But even he has fallen waaaaaay behind with these books. I think that I might have enjoyed it but then again, probably not. Fantasy and all that?

narnia

The Chronicles of Narnia (Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis

So I’ve read the first book I believe and the second but not the last few. I had a number of copies handed down to me and thought I’ll get them all read when I was little younger but then books such as Judy Moody and the like took over and I completely forgot to get the entire series finished.

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

This list is becoming books I think I should have read? I think it comes from reading too many of those “100 books you should have read by now” and I manage to tick off my eleven out of 150. This is a book I’ve heard a lot about but so far has escaped my attention.

download (2)

Animal Farm by George Orwell

Right, so this may come as a surprise to some, but this is my most lied about book. Whenever anyone asks whether I’ve read animal farm I always say yes and I haven’t. It’s a downright, blatant lie. So I need to read this, because I know there will be a number of shocked faces now I’ve finally admitted I haven’t (yet.)

The_Giving_Tree

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

I always see quotes from Shel Silverstein and this one I’ve always thought I should read and get reviewed. I think there are some books that are universally adored and this is one of them that I need to get read

humour-book-the-hitchhacker-guide-to-galaxy

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

I see people reading this book on the tube allllll the time and it’s always one I’ve thought I should probably read.

download (6)

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Now, because I haven’t yet seen the film I think that this could be a book I enjoy and then see the films, but then again I probably won’t do either cause I’m that kind of reader

dorian-grey

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

I’ve never read an Oscar Wilde and that makes me a bad reader. In my books anyway.

I’ve realised that these probably aren’t hyped books as such but are just books that you really should get round to reading. I need to go to the library later and I’m going to pick all of these up and make a fort and read them all and then review them. Just for you wonderful people, with some wine. As always, thank you to The Broke and the Bookish for such a wonderful bookish meme.’ Let me know which hyped books you can’t wait to read, or if any of these aren’t worth reading and we can discuss. Ciao.
