The Liebster Award

Morning Little Bloggers! I have once again, delightfully, been nominated for the Liebster Award! Personally, I think these awards are brilliant for recommending different blogs and letting people know what incredible work certain bloggers are doing and it makes me especially proud that people still nominate me for awards! (It lets me know I’m still doing a good job here at mylittlebookblog! I was nominated by the brilliant, so if you have a second check her blog outtttt! (I hadn’t come across her blog until now and I am now a  follower and you should be too!) So firstly I have to write 11 facts about myself!

1) I recently, after many months of waiting for it to heal, had my rook bar changed and it is looking sparkly and lovely!

2) My ultimate girly and probably favourite film is the incredibly moving Titanic

3) I have two books I NEED to read at the moment, the first being The Fault in our Stars, and the second being George Orwell’s 1984

4) I adore the colour pink, but as a child I detested it

5) I am terrible at wrapping presents, most recently seen on Father’s Day (rather embarrassingly)

6) I cannot walk in high-heels…I will…one day!

7) I am afraid of almost all creepy crawlies 😦

8) I have tiny feet

9) I hate horror films of any kind; I think it comes from having such a vivid imagination!

10) Left handed….

11) Always mentioned in these facts, is that I have an ultimate hate of is horrible. (Lets just not go there!)

Right, so now I need to answer 11 questions set by the blogger who nominated me!

1) What’s the closest thing to you (physically) that’s blue?

A book, unsuprisingly! ‘The Racketeer by John Grisham!

2) If you had £10,000 to give to someone, whether you know them personally or not, who would it be and why?

Mumma B, she has given me so many things in life; I would put her on a plane to American and then to Australia! (Maybe she would let me come with!)

3) What’s the thing you regret most?

Worrying about what people have thought about me…it’s just not worth it. If they care so little to talk about you behind your back, at some point they are going to drift out of your life, and you will be the one wasting time worrying!

4) What’s your favourite thing to cook?

5) Favourite word?

Effervescent….or gelato

6) What was the last film you watched?

Last night we watched ‘I give it a year!’ Pretty odd film!

7) What’s your biggest pet peeve?

8) Favourite saying?

Don’t regret anything, because at one time you thought it could make you happy!

9) What do you worry about the most?

Not getting into the publishing buisness; it’s been tough so far and I’m only 20 so we’ll have to see!

10) Do you prefer yourself with straight or curly hair?

Curly, curly, curly!

11) Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I would love to see myself as an editor at a publishing house, hopefully living with someone, and owning the cutest little pug.

Right, so now I need to nominate blogs! Here we go!

and…here are your 11 questions!

1) Describe your blog in three words?

2) If you could live the life of a character in any book who would it be?

3) If you suddenly found £500 pounds in your wallet, that had magically appeared but you had to spend it that day, what would you do with it?

4) What cocktail describes you best?

5) Favourite childhood author?

6) You are in the middle of a zombie attack, and you can only grab one item from your bathroom to protect yourself…what would it be?

7) Coke or Pepsi?

8) Music act you would most like to see live in concert?

9) Do you have any tattoos? If yes..what? and if no…are you planning on any?

10) Harry Potter or Twilight?

11) What are your thoughts on jelly?

Slightly random questions, as I am in a slightly random mood! Enjoy!

Liebster Award!

I was recently awarded the Liebster award by the brilliant Steve at (definitely check it out! (: )Although I have already nominated my blogs for the Liebster award I decided to answer the questions to accept the award so here are my answers to the questions!

1: What’s your favourite colour, and why?

My favourite colour is blue: Duck egg, royal, navy, and especially turquoise and this is because blue reminds of freedom and escaping. It reminds me of deep clear seas, and glorious summers. It is also an extremely calming colour, which only adds to its beauty.

2: Who has your favourite storyteller’s voice?

It would have to be Morgan Freeman! I could listen to him for hours and I recon he could do all the voices, just right!

3: Who’s your favourite children’s book illustrator?

Quentin Blake; Not only did he illustrate the images for probably my favourite children’s book author Roald Dahl, but his images are stunning and brilliant especially ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ and ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine.’

4: Do you have a favourite kind of non-fiction book?

I honestly do not read a lot of non- fiction. It has unfortunately never grabbed me as much as the beauty of fiction, however I do have a favourite topic and that is The Titanic. I have a number of books detailing all kinds of exciting and beautiful details about the seemingly unsinkable ship.

5: What was your favourite book you received as a gift?

I cannot think specifically of my favourite book I ever received as a gift as every book I have received is special, however my favourite recently received book is ‘This Boy,’ by Alan Johnson sent my amazing mum, as a well done for doing so well with my new book! It even had enclosed on a note, ‘For my little blogger,’ which made it even more special!

6: Black & White or Colour photographs?

I love both colour and B&W, Colour can be so contrasting with vivid leafy greens and distinctive exotic blues, oranges and yellows, but also calming, with stunning shimmering peaches and balmy shades of gold. However, for me, perfection is the simple B&W.

7: What’s your favourite movie, and why?

What an impossible question!! I would have to say… Titanic. From a very young age it captured my imagination and really interested me in the subject, and this interest has stayed with me since!

8: Who are your favourite movie acting partnership (any genre)?

There are way to many to choose from!

9: What’s your favourite plant?

My favourite plant would have to be the stunning wisteria; it used to grow in bunches in our garden on top of a beautiful corner seat. The bulging flowers would creep and grow overcoming

10: Do you believe books should be compulsory reading just because critics have labelled them ‘classics’?

No I think that up and coming books can be the most rewarding and can teach us so much! Although classics are brilliant I think that there should be a mixture to allow for a new future for books and learning!

11: Can a book be so morally bankrupt that it should never be published?

Such a difficult question, I think it totally depends on the book… however I think that controversy is sometimes the best seller.

My Answers to ‘Young Adult Book Reviewer’s 11 Questions

1. Why did you start a book blog?

I have always loved reading and books; as a small child I used to sit in libraries for hours only leaving when my parents dragged me out kicking and screaming. This love of books has continued throughout my life and after writing book reviews for my University Magazine, I wanted to share and listen to more people’s thoughts on books and to continue and expand on my love of reading.

2. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

I love discovering new and brilliant books. There are so many new books that I would never have discovered if I hadn’t have set up this blog! I also love the community it creates and the discussions that occur through blogging.

3. What is the one book you’d take to a deserted island?

This is the question that I always get asked when I say I review books! I would have to say… The Book Thief, I don’t have a favourite book (I could never choose) but this one comes pretty close. It always makes me smile, cry and laugh.

4. What is your greatest vice?

Being a busy body; I am always on the go! My housemate at university calls me Super Woman because I never stop! But that’s how I’ve always been, a ‘BusyLizzy’

5. If this character was a real person, what fictional character would be your best friend?

Amber from the chocolate run; she loves chocolate, films and her dry sarcastic humour would make me heave with laughter all day. Perfect

6. If you could be one of the characters in a story which character would you pick and in which book? (Double question for fun!)

One of my favourite books is one called ‘On Mystic Lake’ by Kristen Hannah. It’s a beautiful, soulful and devastating book that I am reviewing soon for my own blog. I would love to be the character Annie with her sweet but determined nature and star in my very own fairytale story.

7. What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a blog?

Make it about you; show your character, your feelings, thoughts, hopes, loves and dreams. A blog should be a collage of you.

8. Do you prefer reading or watching TV?

Definitely reading; it transports you to a world that television never could!

9. Print or eBook?

Hmm…currently I would have to say print because I don’t read ebooks, however I am investing in a Kindle over the summer… so maybe my answer will change. But overall definitely print, I like to have my own personal copy of the book so that I can never forget the incredible books I have read throughout my life

10. What is your favorite blog? (Book blog or otherwise)

I recently stumbled upon and I love it as a blog. The photographs are stunning and it’s a real heart-warmer. Little articles about photography, and food its brilliant so go check it out!

11. If you were given the chance, what one book would you read before you die?

Definitely another tough question; I think it would have to be Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Its one of my favourite of the Harry Potter books and I grew up with Harry Potter reading them as and when they came out, always waiting for the next one and fighting with my Dad over who would get the chance to read it first! Reading this would definitely bring back happy childhood memories.
