The Versatile Blogger Award!

This came as a lovely surprise a little while ago as, nofriendasloyal, nominated me for the versatile blogger award. Huge thank you is in order, as it is always brilliant to be recognised. So, thank you! According to the rules, I must now make you all aware of seven things about me, so here we go.

1) I am left handed. What an interesting fact.

2) I am terribly afraid off slugs! Yes, maybe a little odd, but the little slimy things honestly terrify me. (Although, saying that there are not that many bugs that don’t) Saying that, I am okay with snails!

3) I love music. I am a huge music fan; if you ever catch me wandering around university I will probably me bobbing along to a new song or new artist. However I am not a music snob!

4) I hate jelly. Yes, jelly is not cool with me. Ever. Fact. I am also creating an anti-jelly army in the near future. No joke

5)  I really would like to learn the guitar. However, university work is almost always all-consuming my life and therefore I have never had a chance to. (sad face)

6) I would love a tattoo. Potentially book related.

7) Finally, I am addicted to Pepsi Max. (Poor teeth.)

So there you go. At this point I will nominate a number of blogs (I haven’t done 15! Woops) I would like to give the Versatile blogger award..annnd here they are!

Apologies for the short list but I am so, so, so, so busy that checking out blogs is super difficult!

Congratulations for the blogs above and I look forward to seeing your posts!

Liebster Award!

I was recently awarded the Liebster award by the brilliant Steve at (definitely check it out! (: )Although I have already nominated my blogs for the Liebster award I decided to answer the questions to accept the award so here are my answers to the questions!

1: What’s your favourite colour, and why?

My favourite colour is blue: Duck egg, royal, navy, and especially turquoise and this is because blue reminds of freedom and escaping. It reminds me of deep clear seas, and glorious summers. It is also an extremely calming colour, which only adds to its beauty.

2: Who has your favourite storyteller’s voice?

It would have to be Morgan Freeman! I could listen to him for hours and I recon he could do all the voices, just right!

3: Who’s your favourite children’s book illustrator?

Quentin Blake; Not only did he illustrate the images for probably my favourite children’s book author Roald Dahl, but his images are stunning and brilliant especially ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ and ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine.’

4: Do you have a favourite kind of non-fiction book?

I honestly do not read a lot of non- fiction. It has unfortunately never grabbed me as much as the beauty of fiction, however I do have a favourite topic and that is The Titanic. I have a number of books detailing all kinds of exciting and beautiful details about the seemingly unsinkable ship.

5: What was your favourite book you received as a gift?

I cannot think specifically of my favourite book I ever received as a gift as every book I have received is special, however my favourite recently received book is ‘This Boy,’ by Alan Johnson sent my amazing mum, as a well done for doing so well with my new book! It even had enclosed on a note, ‘For my little blogger,’ which made it even more special!

6: Black & White or Colour photographs?

I love both colour and B&W, Colour can be so contrasting with vivid leafy greens and distinctive exotic blues, oranges and yellows, but also calming, with stunning shimmering peaches and balmy shades of gold. However, for me, perfection is the simple B&W.

7: What’s your favourite movie, and why?

What an impossible question!! I would have to say… Titanic. From a very young age it captured my imagination and really interested me in the subject, and this interest has stayed with me since!

8: Who are your favourite movie acting partnership (any genre)?

There are way to many to choose from!

9: What’s your favourite plant?

My favourite plant would have to be the stunning wisteria; it used to grow in bunches in our garden on top of a beautiful corner seat. The bulging flowers would creep and grow overcoming

10: Do you believe books should be compulsory reading just because critics have labelled them ‘classics’?

No I think that up and coming books can be the most rewarding and can teach us so much! Although classics are brilliant I think that there should be a mixture to allow for a new future for books and learning!

11: Can a book be so morally bankrupt that it should never be published?

Such a difficult question, I think it totally depends on the book… however I think that controversy is sometimes the best seller.

My Answers to ‘Young Adult Book Reviewer’s 11 Questions

1. Why did you start a book blog?

I have always loved reading and books; as a small child I used to sit in libraries for hours only leaving when my parents dragged me out kicking and screaming. This love of books has continued throughout my life and after writing book reviews for my University Magazine, I wanted to share and listen to more people’s thoughts on books and to continue and expand on my love of reading.

2. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

I love discovering new and brilliant books. There are so many new books that I would never have discovered if I hadn’t have set up this blog! I also love the community it creates and the discussions that occur through blogging.

3. What is the one book you’d take to a deserted island?

This is the question that I always get asked when I say I review books! I would have to say… The Book Thief, I don’t have a favourite book (I could never choose) but this one comes pretty close. It always makes me smile, cry and laugh.

4. What is your greatest vice?

Being a busy body; I am always on the go! My housemate at university calls me Super Woman because I never stop! But that’s how I’ve always been, a ‘BusyLizzy’

5. If this character was a real person, what fictional character would be your best friend?

Amber from the chocolate run; she loves chocolate, films and her dry sarcastic humour would make me heave with laughter all day. Perfect

6. If you could be one of the characters in a story which character would you pick and in which book? (Double question for fun!)

One of my favourite books is one called ‘On Mystic Lake’ by Kristen Hannah. It’s a beautiful, soulful and devastating book that I am reviewing soon for my own blog. I would love to be the character Annie with her sweet but determined nature and star in my very own fairytale story.

7. What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a blog?

Make it about you; show your character, your feelings, thoughts, hopes, loves and dreams. A blog should be a collage of you.

8. Do you prefer reading or watching TV?

Definitely reading; it transports you to a world that television never could!

9. Print or eBook?

Hmm…currently I would have to say print because I don’t read ebooks, however I am investing in a Kindle over the summer… so maybe my answer will change. But overall definitely print, I like to have my own personal copy of the book so that I can never forget the incredible books I have read throughout my life

10. What is your favorite blog? (Book blog or otherwise)

I recently stumbled upon and I love it as a blog. The photographs are stunning and it’s a real heart-warmer. Little articles about photography, and food its brilliant so go check it out!

11. If you were given the chance, what one book would you read before you die?

Definitely another tough question; I think it would have to be Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Its one of my favourite of the Harry Potter books and I grew up with Harry Potter reading them as and when they came out, always waiting for the next one and fighting with my Dad over who would get the chance to read it first! Reading this would definitely bring back happy childhood memories.
