Hellllllo readers , it’s Tuesday so it’s time for another Top Ten Tuesdaaaay and today we’re talking about BAD GUYS. I, like any good reader, know that every story needs a bad guy even if it’s a very tame one. Today, however, I’m going to bring out the super bad guys – enjoy.
NILS BJURMAN (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO)
Nils Bjurman is a sexual sadist who manipulates and plays with the beloved Lisbeth only allowing access to her funds when she performs sexual acts. There is a terrifying rape scene and although Lisbeth does get her own back he is a utterly loathsome villain.
Napoleon (Animal Farm)
Napoeon is a proper bully isn’t he – not only does he oust the leader Snowball but he becomes the tyrannical dictator of Animal Farm. He begins to order the deaths of certain animals and ruins the tranquility that once ruled. What a nightmare.
Agatha Trunchbull (Matilda)
Erggggggh Mrs Agatha Trunchball. A cruel sadist who tortures the children she hates (which is all of them) in a glass and nail filled cupboard called The Chokey. She also torment Ms Honey – what a horrible bully but a brilliant villain.
Lord Voldemort (Harry Potter)
The White Witch (The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe)
THE witches (from The witches)
Gah this book – as a child I had to have this read to me during the day time because I was terrified of the Witches, honestly terrified. I have only ever read this book once – never, ever again.
Big brother (from 1984)

I think the one that gives me some pause is Kevin… Yes – he is without doubt a villain now – but there is definitely a sense that he was left isolated by a mother who couldn’t bond with him and a father who was never there. But I love your list of villains – all of whom are satisfyingly baaaaad!
I really battled with myself whether to put him on the list or not because I did think – there is thievery sensitive side to his life.
But, he is still a pretty terrible character! But great comment – almost like you read my mind!
