Helllllo readers, hope you’re well and happy and busy. It’s January which is obviously a little terrifying and I’ve been trying to stick to a couple of New Year’s resolutions although I’m pretty sure they won’t stick. Today’s Top Ten Tuesday post is where I (a little sadly) put together a post of all the books I said I would get round to but didn’t in 2K15. These are the books that I was adament I would get done but didn’t because – you know, life. I will try my utter best to get these lovely books read in 2k16 because they all look pretty darn brilliant.

Slaughterhouse-five by Kurt Vonnegut

I read so, so many classics in 2015 but this one I just didn’t get round to. I hope to in 2016 because I’ve heard so many wonderful things about this book.

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

One of my friends favourite books and one I have seen reviewed all the time. It’s been on my list a long time but I always forget about it and end up picking another up. One to get hold of on my next library trip I think.

Wild by Cheryl Strayed

This book has been on my TBR for over a year now and yet still haven’t got my reading butt in gear and read it. I will this year, because I desperately want to see the film but want to read it first!

A Room of one’s own by Virginia Woolf

I even have a copy of this book now but have I read it – no, why, no idea.

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

One of the many books I’m embarrassed not to have read and still haven’t! Hopefully 2016 will be the year to get this read.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

*grumbles.* I think I must be one of the worst bookworms for never ever having picked up a copy of this book let alone read it. I promised I would get this read but not yet. Once again 2016 will be the year hopefully.

We need to talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver

I loved the film adaptation of this and have seen varying reviews of the book – if I could just get this read and reviewed this year I will be a happy bunny.

The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing

I’m really lagging at my 101 things in 1001 days challenge especially the one to read twenty books recommended by friends. This is one of the suggested books so hopefully I can get back on track with this brilliant book.

The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K Rowling)

Still need to read. Soon. Hopefully.

Love Letters to the dead by Ava Dellaira

Finally, this book has also been on my TBR for almost a year but I’ve been the worst for getting through it this year. I have this waiting in my Amazon basket so there’s no excuse really!

I’m really sorry that these books have featured on so many lists but I really am the worst for reading books on my TBR. I cannot wait to get these all read and reviewed for you. What books are you hoping to get read this year? Have you read any of those ^ and have thoughts on them? Comment below or tweet me @littlebookblog1!

As soon as I saw We Need to Talk about Kevin on your list I scrolled down to say how terrifying and well written it is. Looks like I’ve been beaten to it. πŸ™‚

Out of all these books, the only one I’ve read on this list is Memoirs of a Geisha. I advise you to be cautious when going into it, for the book (and the film) have been highly criticized for the way the geisha characters are written, as well as the reinforcement of stereotypes about Asian women in general as well.

I really enjoy Vonnegut and I remember loving Memoirs of a Geisha! Dorian Gray is the so far the only book that I started and never finished – and I think I’m okay with that – does that make me a bad bookworm haha?

    • January 18, 2016 / 1:56 pm

No of course it doesn’t! I’ve heard really really mixed reviews so it definitely doesn’t make you a bad bookworm! πŸ™‚

What a relief! πŸ™‚ Happy reading!

The Giving Tree will take you, like, 10 minutes max to read. Find it in your local library, have a seat, and knock this one off your TBR list πŸ˜‰ But have some tissues handy!! lol – My TTT

There were a lot of books I wanted to read last year, but didn’t get around to it. I hope this year will be different. I’ve just added We Need To Talk About Kevin, and Slaughterhouse Five to my Wish Listβ€”the former I’ve heard great things about, so I definitely want to read that soon. Also, classics; I desperately want to expand my classic material, as I await the time where I come across one that I DON’T abandon.

I loved ‘We Need to Talk about Kevin’ although I felt that his crime didnt have the same impact it could have especially relative to all the crimes being committed today. I would stil recommend!

    • January 18, 2016 / 1:48 pm

oh definitely – it’s terrifying what the world is coming too but an interesting tale all the same πŸ™‚

‘We Need to Talk about Kevin’ is such an interesting read on the mother-son relationship, I hope you get round to it!

    • January 18, 2016 / 1:48 pm

I reaaaaaly want to read it soon – it is really high on my TBR because I did love (if that’s the right word) the film so much!

Reblogged this on Brainfluff and commented:
This is yet another entertaining blog by the marvellous Lizzie Baldwin in her Top Ten Tuesday series – yes… I KNOW it’s Thursday, but work with me, people! That’s no reason not to read this as you ponder your own unread books stacked amongst your TBR pile. I’d love to hear what is lurking there!
