I blogged about ____ this past week…

At the weekend I had the most wonderful Saturday; there’s someone rather special who I’ve been spending a lot of time with recently who means a lot to me and who’s just pretty great. On Saturday morning we went for breakfast at this lovely little place in Newcastle-Under-Lyme; sausage and bean oatcakes and hash browns smothered in ketchup were swiftly devoured. We then took the bus to Hanley for a little shopping trip. I’m currently not allowed to buy anything because my wardrobe is already heaving with things I don’t wear so I traipsed around looking at all the floral spring dresses feeling sorry for myself. We then found a darling little second hand book shop where we spent a long time looking through all the old books and classics and that’s what has sparked this post.

I picked up for the hefty price of one hundred pennies, a copy of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Ariel is my favourite Disney princess and the cover was beautiful and so nicely illustrated I couldn’t help myself. We then popped next door and ordered coffee before setting back to my little back garden where we spent the next three hours drinking cider and reading in the sunshine. The weather was so hot and heady but it was a beautiful end to a special day. It’s now perched rather pleasingly on the top of my stack of books in the little vintage suitcase I picked up in Newcastle and it looks just so pretty. It really was a perfect Saturday made all the more special by this little bookish purchase.
